ACCOUNTING FACULTY POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

Position description

Applications are invited for one full-time tenure track Assistant Professor of Accounting, position number 128590. The position is available with an August 2024 start date, dependent upon university funding. Primary teaching duties will be undergraduate and graduate courses in Accounting (face-to-face and online), especially courses associated with Auditing, and other Accounting-related courses to adequately provide a good foundation in Accounting and to prepare students for other classes within the department and the College of Business. This position will teach three classes each fall and spring. This position will also serve on departmental, college, and university committees. This faculty member will maintain professional affiliations and contribute to professional activities. This position will mentor students and provide advice on professional endeavors.

The University of West Florida, located in Pensacola, FL, primarily emphasizes quality teaching. In addition, faculty members are expected to publish in quality refereed journals, maintain AACSB academic qualifications, perform career and academic counseling, and serve on departmental, college, and university committees. A normal teaching load is three courses per semester. This position may require teaching at the nearby Fort Walton Beach campus of the university (approximately 50 miles east of the Pensacola campus). Salary is AACSB competitive and will be commensurate with education and experience.

Position Qualifications

Doctoral degree from an AACSB-accredited institution in Accounting or a closely related field, including at least 18 graduate semester hours in Accounting and a strong commitment to teaching, academic research, and service.
Pertinent work experience, continuing professional development, and an active research agenda to maintain qualifications for performing teaching assignments.
Relevant teaching experience, including proven effectiveness in online course development and teaching.
Evidence of potential for quality scholarship, including publication in qualifying academic journals.
Preferred Qualifications

Regardless of degree, it must be coupled with pertinent work experience, continuing professional development, and a robust research agenda.
Coursework or work experience in Auditing-related topics. Teaching experience and/or scholarship regarding Auditing topics are desirable.
