Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate will instruct four courses per semester and collaborate with RHTM faculty to achieve department and college goals of providing excellent instruction. The main teaching responsibilities will reside in the retail and merchandising management discipline, especially in fashion merchandising and management. Both undergraduate and master-level graduate courses may be assigned. Provide services up to 10% of their time.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
·            An earned doctorate in Retail Consumer Sciences, Fashion Merchandising and Marketing, or a closely related discipline by the time of application

·            Evidence of quality teaching in face-to-face and online classes in 4-year institutions

·            Proven record of teaching a variety of topics in retail, merchandising, or fashion management

·            Effective communication and interpersonal skills

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
·            Evidence of effective and innovative college-level course development

·            Progressive managerial experience in the retail industry

ACADEMIC ENVIRONMENT:
The RHTM department values diversity and collegiality. The RHTM department offers undergraduate majors in Retail and Merchandising Management (RMM) and Hospitality and Tourism Management, and a PhD program tailored to individual career goals with a concentration in either HTM or Retail and Consumer Sciences. The RHTM department provides innovative student experiential learning institutes, including the UT Culinary Institute, the Rocky Top Institute, and the UT Creamery.
