OUR UNIVERSITY

Responsible for the coordination of field placements for students, faculty supervisors, and sites in the Master of Arts in Counseling, Master of Science in Addiction Counseling, and Bachelor of Science in Addiction Counseling programs.

Position is additionally responsible for providing a high quality and engaging instruction and academic mentoring to students; for developing, assessing, and assuring excellent pedagogy and curriculum design; for promoting student achievement and academic integrity on behalf of the University; and for collaboration with support services provided through campus units. Academic program development for program currency, growth, retention, and recruitment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Administrative Responsibilities:
• Working knowledge of licensure law in relation to the state’s where students are completing training.
• Oversight of all field placement students, faculty supervisors, course shells and content.
• Development and revision of field placement syllabi as required.
• Development/revision of all field placement related paperwork, forms, handbooks.
• Oversight and delivery of field placement workshops.
• Creation, coordination, and communication with field placement sites and supervisors.
• Recruit and prepare new faculty supervisors.
• Completion of field placement verification paperwork.
• Development of new field placement locations to include articulation agreements.
• Participate in program, curriculum evaluation, and review.
• Work collaboratively with the Department Chair of Counseling Studies.

Faculty Role:
• Teaching Load: 6 courses (60% load) per year (with the potential addition of two directed studies or small courses*). Teach graduate courses in the discipline. Course assignments is to be determined in collaboration among the School Dean, Department Chair, and individual faculty, according to unit and university requirements.
• Teaching Standards: Maintain a high standard in classroom teaching through engaging and effective pedagogy, exhibiting awareness and understanding of best practices in graduate education through application in the classroom, and remaining current with issues, curriculum, and classroom approaches in the discipline.
• Advising: Attend to student needs and concerns, and work with each student’s advising team members to identify and develop opportunities for each individual learner. Collaborate as needed in scheduling courses, addressing academic concerns, and supporting efforts in retention.
• Scholarship: Maintain awareness of contemporary trends and evolving knowledge within one’s academic discipline and in the liberal arts through research, creative work, writing, conference attendance (either virtually or at designated location), public presentations (in-person and virtually), and other involvement in the regional and national community of higher education professionals
• Service:
-Participate with faculty in governance issues related to curriculum and course development and revisions, including review of adjunct syllabi as assigned. Collaborate in University and program assessment of the academic needs of students, in analyzing trends, and developing and recommending changes as needed. Collaborate as needed in scheduling courses and addressing academic concerns (such as, but not limited to, serving on an academic grievance committee);
-Contribute to the residential needs and student life at OU by voluntarily serving as advisor to student organizations, regularly attending Campus events and Spirit Life activities, serving on student grievance (or development) committees and providing other engaged support to the Campus environment and life as directed by the Dean.
-Contribute to recruitment and retention efforts for campus growth and sustainability
-Participate in the interviewing process, orientation, mentoring, and development of new faculty as needed.
-Participate in Campus and University-wide governance in responding to and engaging in dialogue related to academic issues across the university.
-Participate in Campus and University-wide committee work, including on-going committees, program assessments, task-oriented committees or task forces, and other projects or committees as requested
• Assessment: Maintain effective curricula through participation in university-wide assessment processes.

REQUIRED EDUCATION: (education based on essential job duties and requirements consistent with business necessity): Doctorate in Counseling or Counseling Psychology, Counseling Education & Supervision, or equivalent (APA or CACREP preferred)

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: (experience based on requirements in role and are consistent with business necessity) 3 or more years of applicable experience is preferred.
