The NYU School of Professional Studies seeks a Clinical (Assistant/Associate) Professor of Construction Management for the Schack Institute of Real Estate, effective Spring or Fall 2023.  (The rank of the position will be determined based on the candidate’s experience and qualifications.)

The Schack Institute of Real Estate is actively seeking candidates who are distinguished academics and/or professionals with exemplary experience in construction logistics, construction management, infrastructure, transportation and/or civil engineering and have the ability to teach courses in the following areas:  construction methods and technology, construction process, building information modeling, scheduling, project management, cost estimating, global construction, construction finance, as well as infrastructure, sustainability, environmental and/or transportation systems.

Reporting to the Associate Dean of the Schack Institute of Real Estate, the successful candidate will work closely with the Academic Director to implement the vision for expanding and growing Schack’s global construction management program, and to increase Schack’s profile and visibility locally, nationally and internationally.  Clinical faculty are encouraged to engage industry partners and also travel with their students both domestically and abroad to gain exposure to comparative best practices.

Strong candidates will have a firm understanding of the challenges facing the construction industry in the 21st Century as well as the various intersections between construction management and global real estate, sustainability, and transportation, environmental and infrastructure systems.  An understanding of innovation in supply chain management, construction techniques and current software is expected. Successful candidates will teach within the undergraduate and graduate programs; may also teach within corporate & executive education programs; develop courses; advise students; collaborate with other faculty and industry partners; and engage with the broader NYUSPS academic community, as appropriate.  Additionally, ideal candidates will have experience working with a diverse base of professionals and/or teaching a diverse population of students. This full-time position is a nine-month appointment with a minimum two-year renewable faculty appointment.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will (i) hold an advanced degree (terminal in their field or discipline), preferably in civil engineering, construction, architecture, finance or technology; (ii) have a significant industry or academic track record; (iii) have at least three years of academic experience and effectiveness in higher education, (iv) have experience working with or teaching diverse populations of students.  Candidates should provide evidence of initiative in curricular development, demonstrate an ability or potential ability to engage in meaningful service or administrative work, and supply evidence of promise in scholarly work.
