Job Description

Nevada State University invites applications for the position of Instructional Designer/Educational Developer. The Instructional Designer/Educational Developer will work with teaching faculty to create expertly designed courses and highly engaging course content that is delivered in a clear and effective manner in face-to-face, hybrid, and online formats. This role will offer faculty support through providing professional development activities (workshops, Faculty Learning Communities, Institutes, Certificates, observations etc.), consultations, instructional/course design, and collaborating with relevant support staff across campus.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Design, prepare, and deliver professional development activities (individually or in collaboration with CTLE Team and/or academic faculty) such workshops, faculty learning communities, and institutes.
• Oversee certificate program(s) including coaching faculty, tracking completion, reviewing documents, and evaluating program to modify and grow the program(s).
• Consult with teaching faculty on course design and instructional methods for face-to-face, online, and hybrid learning contexts to meet desired learning outcomes.
• Support faculty with content preparation, learning outcomes and assessment strategies, and technical expertise with computer and web applications.
• Observe and facilitate peer observations and SGIDs for faculty in their courses to provide feedback on teaching effectiveness.
• Collaborate and facilitate activities via online technology tools such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams.
• Collaboratively assist the CTLE Team with identifying significant topics and issues, analyzing needs and assessing faculty learning outcomes, and producing events to maximize the outreach to teaching faculty.
• Keep up with research and trends within educational development and teaching and learning through scholarly reading, professional development, and conferences.
• Collaboratively assist the CTLE Team with marketing and communication.

Required Qualifications:

• Master’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Experience teaching (preferably at the college/university level).
• A minimum of one year of experience in the design and development of courses (preferably at the college/university level).
• Knowledge of instructional design and learning theories for higher education contexts, including assessment.
• Demonstrated ability to provide high-quality instructional support and consultation (for face-to-face, online, and/or hybrid learning contexts) using a dedicated learning management system.
• Demonstrated ability in designing and implementing educational development programs (such as workshops, Faculty Learning Communities, Institutes, etc.).
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and engage in multiple tasks/projects simultaneously.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with others in the pursuit of common goals.
• Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship (Nevada State does not sponsor employment-related visas).

Preferred Qualifications:

• PhD or equivalent experience.
• Advanced skills in online learning tools such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams.
• Proficient skills in preparing media and web content.
• Proficient skills in Microsoft tools such as Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel.
• Certification in effective teaching practices (such as Quality Matters, ACUE, or similar).
• Experience using Canvas (learning management system).
• Demonstrated commitment to an institutional mission dedicated to the success of a diverse, non-traditional, first-generation student population.

Salary & Benefits

Budgeted salary for this position is $60,000.00. Nevada State University offers excellent benefits, including 17.50% retirement match, 24 annual leave days, beginning balance of 30 sick leave days, 12 paid holidays, educational benefits, and three health insurance plans that can be supplemented with flexible spending accounts or health savings accounts.
