From the Upstate to the Lowcountry, the University of South Carolina system is transforming the lives of South Carolinians through the impact of our eight institutions and 20 locations throughout the state. More than 50,000 students are enrolled at one of eight institutions, including the research campus in Columbia and comprehensive four-year universities in Aiken, Upstate and Beaufort. In addition, our Palmetto College campuses in Salkehatchie, Union, Lancaster and Sumter enable students to earn associate or bachelor’s degrees through a combination of in-person, online or blended learning. All of our system institutions place strong emphasis on service — helping to build healthier, more educated communities in South Carolina and beyond.
This individual will be a part of the CTE instructional design team and assist with the design, development, and delivery of courses on the USC-Columbia campus, Palmetto College campuses, and Schools of Medicine (Columbia and Greenville). This position assists with creating shared resources and provides professional development opportunities for faculty and Graduate Teaching Assistants. The Instructional Designer develops curricula for courses, by researching assigned topics, designing training for face-to-face and online delivery, and writing curricula including facilitator manuals, participant manuals, prework, bridgework, online modules, and tests. This position also provides writing support to staff by drafting original documents, such as website test and reports, and by acting as an editor, proofreader, and writing coach.
Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree in education or related field and 1 year experience in curriculum management or development, or bachelor’s degree and 3 years related experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree in instructional design or related field. Minimum of two years of experience in course development in a higher education setting. One year of teaching experience at the collegiate level. Advanced working knowledge of the Blackboard Learning Management System. Experience with providing professional development opportunities for educators in a higher education setting.
This position is located on the Columbia campus and would be expected to work on campus and must be willing to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the department.
