Job Description

Two Full-Time Lecturer Positions in Landscape Design at the University of Vermont

Two instructional faculty positions are open for application at the University of Vermont for lecturers with experience in various aspects of Landscape Design.

First, the Department of Plant & Soil Science at the University of Vermont (UVM) invites applications for a full-time Lecturer specializing in Landscape Design. We are seeking candidates with advanced training in landscape design/landscape architecture, as well as industry experience with landscape construction and landscape management. Applicants must have experience in one or more of the following areas: residential horticulture, grading/drainage, contracts/bidding, ecological landscape design, landscape graphics, and turfgrass management.

In addition, the Departments of Plant & Soil Science (PSS) and Community Development and Applied Economics (CDAE) at the University of Vermont (UVM) invite applications for a full-time Lecturer position specializing in Design and Graphics for Ecological Landscape and Community-Centered Design. Applicants must have training and previous experience in one or more of the following areas: landscape design/architecture, urban and rural land planning, as well as applied design processes and graphical execution of design ideas. Ability to teach traditional studio techniques and computer-based applied design and/or visual communications courses is essential.

Collectively these two positions will serve UVM’s undergraduate majors Agroecology and Landscape Design (PSS), and Community-Centered Design (CDAE), as well as an emerging master’s program in Ecological Landscape Design in PSS, and a broader connection to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals via programming in CDAE.

All applicants are required to hold a master’s degree in landscape architecture or a closely related field. Highly motivated individuals with a robust interest in undergraduate landscape design education, along with industry or academic experience in design/construction, are encouraged to apply. UVM is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and inclusive excellence of the academic community through their teaching and service.

To see further Details about each of the two lecturer positions, or to Apply, please visit http://www.uvmjobs.com, Position # 00026367 or Position # 00026364.

A letter of application, curriculum vitae, a portfolio of landscape design work, evidence of teaching effectiveness, and a statement on advancing diversity and inclusive excellence should all be attached electronically to the online application. Applicants can either upload a portfolio as a PDF (limit 9MB file size) or submit a link to a digital portfolio.

Additionally, applicants should enter in the application names and email addresses for three individuals who will provide letters of professional reference. Anticipated start date is August 21, 2023. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis beginning January 31, 2023.
