The School of Kinesiology in the Faculty of Health Sciences at Western University promotes the benefits of physical activity and sport to society by providing a multidisciplinary approach to discovery, dissemination, and application of related knowledge and outcomes. The School of Kinesiology champions three research clusters focusing on Physical Activity and 1) Brain Health, 2) Mobility, and 3) Social Impact with strong links to Faculty Research Centres in Activity and Aging, and Health Equity and Social Inclusion.

We are seeking a Probationary (tenure-track) faculty colleague at the rank of Assistant Professor in the area of the neuromechanical and/or sensorimotor control of human movement. The overarching emphasis for this position is a candidate with a primary research interest in how the human nervous system controls and executes interactions with the environment. The successful candidate will contribute to the vision of the School to be a global leader in inclusive excellence in research and education through a multidisciplinary approach to Kinesiology. The successful candidate will be expected to teach existing courses while also developing new courses in the School that extends the curriculum and will also be expected to supervise graduate students. The ideal candidate will be an innovative thinker who has experience in interdisciplinary environments, demonstrated potential for excellence in research, with a strong potential to secure external research funding and produce high quality scholarly/creative outputs aligned with one or more of the Faculty of Health Sciences Research Centres/Groups.

Candidates must hold a PhD in Kinesiology, or a related field, by the start date of the appointment. Post-doctoral training/experience will be considered an asset. The impact of certain circumstances that may legitimately affect a candidate’s teaching and research will be given careful consideration. Candidates are encouraged to provide any relevant information about their experience and/or career interruptions.

The effective date of the appointment is July 1, 2024, or as negotiated. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
