The Department of Internal Medicine at the University of California, Davis School of Medicine is recruiting for a fulltime faculty member in the Health Sciences Clinical (HSCP) series at the Assistant Professor rank in General Internal Medicine. Faculty in the HSCP series are expected to engage in teaching, demonstrate professional competence and activity, scholarly or creative work, and University and public service.
This position includes a leadership role in the Division of General Internal Medicine as the Assistant Director of Inpatient Operations. As the Assistant Director of Inpatient Operations, the successful candidate will lead DGIM’s inpatient service at UCDH (General Medicine Wards, Consult Service and TEACH Service): curriculum development for Consultative Medicine; program development for perioperative medicine; lead GIM’s inpatient QI programs; liaison with UCDH, SOM, Dept and Division faculty and services related to GIM’s inpatient services.
The successful candidate will be a clinician educator with teaching focused on both medical student and resident education, didactic, and inpatient wards. The selected candidate will work closely with other faculty within the Division of General Internal Medicine (DGIM), across other divisions in the Department of Internal Medicine, and in related departments, centers and schools at the University of California, Davis, and may include, while not limited to, the Department of Family Medicine and the School of Nursing. Clinical activities will include precepting in inpatient settings, where s/he will supervise and teach both medical students and Internal Medicine residents. The successful candidate is expected to participate in curriculum development, quality improvement projects, and mentoring or remediation of learners.
The successful candidate will participate in appropriate professional societies and educational organization and provide service to department and school committees.

QUALIFICATIONS
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)Qualifications include an MD, DO or equivalent degree, Board Certified in Internal Medicine. Medical licensure or eligible for licensure in the State of California. Record of teaching and patient care in the area of General Internal Medicine. Demonstrate the ability to work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse environment. Demonstrated leadership experience and abilities, and the ability to adhere to policies and procedures.
