The University of Tennessee Foundation, Office of Advancement and the Division of Diversity and Engagement at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville campus, is seeking an Assistant Director of Advancement for Diversity & Engagement to fundraise and perform alumni engagement activities. Under the direction of the Vice Chancellors from both divisions, the role will work with both UT Foundation and division staff, as well as internal and external stakeholders (university administrators, donors, alumni, etc.) to create and implement fundraising strategies for the division including: annual giving, events-based fundraising, major gifts fundraising (gifts of $25,000+), grant writing, planned giving strategy, and sponsorships with an emphasis and focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion. Because this position is new to the Foundation and the Division, it will be responsible for budget management, and the creation and leadership of the Division’s Advisory Board.

Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of three years or master’s with a minimum of 1 year of experience in development, fundraising, sales, non-profit experience, marketing, alumni engagement, event management, or similar work. Strong oral and written communication skills are essential for this position. Excellent interpersonal skills, mature judgment, attention to detail, ability to communicate effectively and build relationships, ability and willingness to travel extensively, work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with minimal supervision are needed.
Preferred Skills: Experience with donor databases and higher education fundraising and an interest/knowledge of diversity, equity, and inclusion is strongly preferred. The ideal candidate will have strong presentation skills, self-confidence and motivation, sensitivity to the needs of diverse constituencies, and a strong, goal-oriented work ethic.
