Stanford’s Online High School is an accredited, diploma-offering, highly selective independent high school, offering courses for grades 7-12.  The mission of Stanford Online High School (OHS) is to create a worldwide learning community of diverse, intellectually passionate students and teachers. Stanford Online High School is also the home of Stanford Pre-Collegiate Studies (SPCS), which provides a diverse array of academic enrichment programs that take place mostly in the summer but also throughout the academic year. Held, primarily online, SPCS programs serve intellectually curious pre-college students from around the world.

Stanford Online High School and Stanford Pre-Collegiate Studies offices are located at the Stanford Redwood City Campus, however this position is eligible for hybrid work arrangement upon mutual agreement.

The Director for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Belonging & Access (DEIBA) will work under the direction of management to implement and administer the vision, strategy, and goals of the assigned academic entity/program(s) utilizing specialized/technical knowledge. The Director serves as the subject matter expert for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Belonging and Access for Stanford Online High School (OHS) and Stanford Pre-Collegiate Studies (SPCS). The position oversees ongoing assessments, recommends, and implements improvements to better support diverse student populations at OHS and SPCS. The position includes designing programming for younger students, e.g. middle school-aged and high school students.

 

Your responsibilities include:

Overseeing assessments and recommending improvements to support diverse student populations at OHS and SPCS; developing and managing pathways to achieving DEIBA goals; developing, executing and administering ongoing and new projects, programs, initiatives and events born out of assessments, surveys and community-driven goals.
Overseeing planning and execution of the Stanford Middle School Scholars Program (SMSSP), a bridge program into OHS. The Director will recommend curricular and co-curricular enhancements for SMSSP; will implement program recommendations; and recruit instructors and staff across OHS to lead courses, cohort sections, and workshops.
Facilitating critical conversations and promoting proactive and restorative practices throughout the school community; triages student issues around diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging and access.
Developing, delivering and disseminating DEIBA education content and anti-bias training in various modalities using communication and presentation skills about complex DEIBA topics that advance knowledge, skills, and awareness.
Collaborating with Human Resources and Hiring Managers to ensure University compliance and best diversity and inclusion practices in recruitment and hiring of staff, making recommendations for future benchmarks in diversity of personnel.
Co-chairs the OHS DEI Committee; leads a DEIBA focused homeroom for OHS students, serves as an OHS wellness coach and as a student club leader.
Promoting diverse narratives for both internal and external audiences. Oversees racial equity statements and DEI webpage content.
Planning summer and academic year virtual and in-person student life events that promote cultural competence and multicultural inclusion for the pre-college population.
Collaborating with SPCS Programs Director and Finance Manager to oversee budgets, ensuring accurate expenditures.
Liaises with the Stanford Diversity and Access Office to leverage an understanding of the broader diversity and access goals of the University and aligns goals accordingly.
Representing OHS and SPCS programs in meetings with external and internal stakeholders. Builds, manages, and maintains relationships with a broad set of stakeholders, both internal and external.
To be successful in this position, you will bring:

Bachelor’s degree and two years of relevant experience or combination of education, training, and relevant experience.
Experience working productively with individuals from a variety of backgrounds, and the ability to discern how marginalized populations may have differing needs.
Understanding of privilege, power, marginalization, and oppression and how they manifest personally, interpersonally, structurally, and institutionally.
Demonstrated commitment to inclusive and anti-oppressive efforts through examples from personal and/or professional work.
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with demonstrated results in leveraging insights for decision-making.
Self-motivation, action-orientation, ability to work independently and cross-functionally and make sound decisions.
Ability to establish effective working relationships and work collaboratively across a complex institution.
Ability to prepare clear, concise, sensitively written materials and presentations for a wide ranging audience.
Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to influence and motivate constituencies, bringing diverse groups to consensus.
Experience working in an independent school setting, in a higher education setting or with the 7-12 student population.
In addition, preferred requirements include:

Demonstrated oral, written, and analytical skills, exhibiting fluency in area of specialization
Advance degree and program administration experience.
Ability to oversee and provide basic direction to staff.
Physical Requirements:

Frequently stand/walk, sitting, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, perform desk-based computer tasks.
Occasionally use a telephone, writing by hand, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 40 pounds.
Ability to use voice to present information/communicate with others.
