Position Title:    Visiting Faculty, Literacy Studies,

College of Education & Community Innovation

 

Summary:  Literacy Studies in the College of Education at Grand Valley State University (GVSU) is seeking applications for two full-time, visiting faculty positions to begin in August 2022. The positions are for the 2022-2023 academic year, with the potential for renewal for up to three years. Each position entails teaching four (4) courses each semester with no service or research requirements. Candidates should specialize in PK-6 literacy teacher preparation and teacher education.

 

Required Qualifications and Education:

Master’s degree in reading, language and literacy, or a related field
Demonstrate potential for teaching effectiveness in literacy teacher education
Three years PK-6 teaching experience or PK-12 Reading/Literacy Specialist experience
Effective oral, written, and collaborative interpersonal skills
Ability to teach using various modalities of instruction including traditional, online synchronous, asynchronous, hybrid, and distance learning technologies
Preferred Qualifications and Education:

Experience working with and meeting the needs of diverse student populations
Experience in pre-service teacher preparation or in-service professional development
Reading Specialist endorsement
Terminal degree in reading, language and literacy, or a related field
Responsibilities – Essential Functions:

Teach undergraduate and graduate literacy courses, both in-person and using online synchronous and asynchronous modalities (four courses in the fall semester, four courses in the winter semester)
Physical Demands: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and must have the physical stamina to work long hours and/or 5 days per week.
