Job Description
The Theatre & Cinema program in the School of Performing Arts at Virginia Tech seeks a dynamic creative artist with theatre directing credentials who is committed to training the next generations of theatre makers. We seek an individual with a breadth of knowledge of theatre styles and contemporary theatre practices, original vision, and the desire and capacity to create and collaborate.
Full-time, one year contract with possible renewal. Salary commensurate with training and experience. Start date: August 10, 2022. DUTIES: The successful candidate will teach required courses in Directing and Script Analysis and direct one of our four large scale productions per year. The expected teaching load is three/two (or two/three depending on directing responsibility) courses per academic year. Additional duties are dependent upon the needs of the Theatre and Cinema Program at the discretion of the School Director and Faculty Chair.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
MFA in Theatre
College level teaching experience in directing
Post graduate directing experience
Preferred:
Professional directing credits
College level teaching experience in script analysis and related areas of directing/performance theatre making, and the ability to teach in a secondary area.
