Department Information
The Department of Civic Engagement and Public Service at the University of West Georgia seeks applicants for an Assistant Professor in Public Administration to begin in August 2023. The successful applicant will become a core member of the public administration faculty who will primarily be responsible for teaching in the fully online Master of Public Administration graduate program. They will also teach face-to-face, and online, undergraduate political science courses. Additionally, a successful candidate for this position will accept responsibilities for assisting/managing in the service and leadership of the Thomas B. Murphy Center for Public Service, which is a non-partisan, educational, and community-engaged organization at the University of West Georgia that educates and inspires our students and community about real-world politics and promotes civic engagement through programs that are unique, enriching, and open-minded.

The Master of Public Administration is a dynamic and growing program housed in the Department of Civic Engagement and Public Service, which offers a BS in political science, a political science minor and a minor in Public Administration. The department also offers Graduate Certificates in Public Management, Nonprofit Management and Community Development, and Disaster Management, as well as undergraduate certificates in Human Rights advocacy and Data Analytics
Required Qualifications
The position requires an earned Ph.D. from an accredited research university in Public Administration, Political Science, Public Policy or a related field, and the ability to teach graduate level public administration courses. Candidates with experience teaching graduate level public administration courses are strongly preferred and particularly encouraged to apply.
