The University of Tennessee Foundation, Inc (UTFI) is seeking a highly motivated development professional to join our Regional Advancement team located in Knoxville, TN. The Chief Development Officer is responsible for designing, implementing, and coordinating a comprehensive fundraising, donor relations, and stewardship program in the states of Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Colorado, Louisiana, Arkansas, and other states as needed where the university has a concentration of potential major donors. This position is specifically charged with the following:
Solicitation of major gifts,
Maintaining a portfolio of major gift donors,
Identifying, qualifying, and cultivating new potential donors,
Stewarding current donors, and
Working with collegiate directors, senior directors, and executive directors on joint proposals and solicitations.

Required Qualifications:  Bachelor’s degree and 5 years or MS with 3 years of related experience in fundraising/development, sales, marketing, business development, communications, volunteer management, nonprofit fundraising, and/or alumni affairs. Knowledge and experience in fundraising, donor relations and gift management, including industry concepts, principles, procedures, and techniques is necessary. Must be able and willing to travel independently and on evenings/weekends to meet with donors/prospects and attend events.

Job Skills: The ideal candidate will be goal driven and a high motivated relationship builder with proven ability to secure significant funding. Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently are also required.  The ideal candidate will be highly supportive of and committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
