Job Description
The Department of Health Behavior & Health Systems (HBHS) is one of two departments in the UNTHSC School of Public Health. The goal of the HBHS department is to help communities and health systems improve policy, management, and public health practice. Graduates of our MPH, MHA, MS and PhD programs assume positions in healthcare, business, human services, research, and academic settings. Our faculty are widely recognized for their innovative teaching and impactful research. Their work has been funded by the National Institutes of Health, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, National Science Foundation, and other national, state, and local agencies. Faculty are widely published in the areas of disease control, health disparities and equity, women’s and children’s health, participatory research, substance abuse prevention, and online/m-health interventions. HBHS faculty have received national and international awards for their work bridging teaching, research, and practice. The department values a diverse community of scholars. The Department of Health Behavior & Health Systems in the School of Public Health at the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth seeks two outstanding faculty colleague at Assistant/Associate/Full Professor rank who can contribute to existing areas of strength. These are open rank positions and can be tenure-track or non-tenure track depending on funding history and qualifications. The successful applicant seeking tenure or tenure accruing will be expected to maintain a strong collaborative, innovative, extramurally funded program of research. The successful applicant for non-tenure track will have excellent teaching qualifications and maintain high teaching and service responsibilities for the Department and School.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Doctoral degree in public health a social and behavioral science, or a related field.
- Advance research and teaching agenda focused on maternal and child and health.
- Strong preference will be given to candidates who are also able to contribute to the department’s strengths in the areas of health disparities and substance use.
- In addition, the successful candidate will have a record of effectively teaching courses related to public health, maternal and child health, and health disparities.
