Description
The Department of Biomedical Sciences is recruiting for a combined faculty position of Director of Learner Research and Assistant Professor.

This position is a twelve (12) month, non-tenure track appointment with the University of North Dakota (UND) School of Medicine and Health Sciences (SMHS), Department of Biomedical Sciences.

Minimum Hiring Salary

$95,000+/year; Commensurate with qualifications and experience

Duties & Responsibilities
The position includes administrative responsibilities as the Director of Learner Research for medical students, teaching a 300 level undergraduate immunology course, a nominal number of microbiology lectures for medical/graduate students, and involvement in instruction of microbiology laboratories for the medical curriculum.

Director of Learner Research Course director and primary Course director and primary instructor for REMS1
Course director for REMS 2/3
Course director for the phase III medical student research elective
Champion and advocate for medical student research, including coordination with clinical department research directors and advising students seeking research opportunities.
Ex officio non-voting member of the SMHS research committee
Teach medical students in the medical/graduate school curriculumMicrobiology/Immunology lectures for medical/graduate students (5)
PCL facilitation
Microbiology labs for medical students (10 in total, spread through the year)
Teach undergraduate immunology course BIMD 328 (Introduction to Immunology) fall semester
Contribute to written reports and other documents as needed by the department.
Must be able to communicate effectively.
Minor Percentage of Effort in Scholarly Activities in the form of education research.
Minor Percentage of Effort in Service in the form of serving on some department committees.
Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements
Ph.D. or equivalent with expertise in microbiology and immunology commensurate with rank
Experience with teaching at the level of a college or university
An aptitude and wilingness to participate in undergraduate, medical, and graduate education
Successful completion of criminal history records check.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience with coordinating collaborative interactions
Experience as a medical student research mentor
Experience with the Blackboard Learning Management system
Must be able to communicate effectively
