The School of Engineering, housed in the College of Applied and Social Sciences at the University of Mount Union invites applicants for a tenure-track faculty position at the assistant professor rank to begin August 1, 2023. We seek an educator-scholar with emphasis in construction engineering. The School of Engineering currently offers ABET-accredited programs in civil and mechanical engineering. Newly created programs in biomedical engineering, computer engineering, and electrical engineering will seek ABET accreditation after graduating their first classes.

Responsibilities

Candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate engineering education in a liberal arts setting. Primary responsibilities include teaching engineering curriculum, further developing the construction engineering curriculum, and participating in the ABET accreditation process. Willingness and flexibility to teach transportation and geotechnical engineering lectures and labs, and a variety of engineering courses including civil and general education courses is desired. Additional responsibilities include advising civil engineering students, industrial outreach leading to student internship and employment opportunities, engaging in professional development and scholarly activities, and participation in university service. The School is interested in candidates who will contribute to diversity in higher education through their teaching, research, and service. Members of underrepresented demographics in Engineering are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

Bachelors and Ph.D. in civil engineering or a closely related field. The candidate must be PE licensed in civil engineering or have the ability to obtain licensure within two years.

Individuals with previous industrial experience and online teaching experience are highly desirable.

Candidates should provide (i) a letter of interest, (ii) curriculum vitae, (iii) contact information of three professional references, and (iv) a statement reflecting on experiences or impressions of High Impact Teaching Practices ( https://www.aacu.org/sites/default/files/files/LEAP/HIP_tables.pdf) to the Civil Engineering Search Committee in a single pdf. Electronic Applications are required and can be submitted online at http://www.mountunion.edu/employment. Please contact the search committee chair, Dr. Chad Korach, at korachcs@mountunion.edu with any questions.
