Primary Position Function/Summary:

The Educational Portfolio Associate Manager provides strategic management over the broad portfolio of Gies Online educational products in collaboration with the Director of Content and Educational Portfolio Strategy. Collaborates extensively with faculty to ensure academic programs maintain content relevance through research of trends and opportunities for content and educational portfolio expansion. Builds relationships and collaboration across all stakeholders in online educational product development and delivery including academic department leadership, faculty, Teaching and Learning leaders and contributors, academic advisors, and admissions and recruiting team members to continuously improve, expand, and innovate the broad portfolio of educational offerings. Engages with tenure track and specialized faculty to evaluate and propose new educational product opportunities with responsibility for initiating discussions and leading faculty to propose and execute. Maintains a deep level of intellectual curiosity and builds a broad knowledge of business topics and trends and fosters the same in others. Ensures operational success of administrative processes such as offering and live session scheduling, and other administrative functions. Manages content related program needs including program, product, and course proposals, revisions, scheduling, and reporting.

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Faculty Engagement and Collaboration (30%)

Invests in understanding the broad expertise of individual faculty and initiates relationships with individual faculty and academic department and area leaders.
Engages with tenure track and specialized faculty to evaluate and propose new educational product opportunities with responsibility for initiating exploration, proposal, and development opportunities.
Leads faculty communication strategy.
Educational Portfolio Strategy (25%)

Ensures academic programs maintain content relevance through research of trends and opportunities for content and educational portfolio expansion including new credentials.
Builds relationships and collaboration across all stakeholders in online educational product development and delivery including academic department leadership, faculty, Teaching and Learning leaders and contributors, academic advisors, and admissions and recruiting team members to continuously improve, expand, and innovate the broad portfolio of educational offerings.
Collaborates with Teaching and Learning Instructional Design and Learner Experience teams to define and implement best practices that deliver quality educational products to a diverse and scaled learner population
Educational Product Management and Scheduling (20%)

Collaborate with program leadership and academic departments to draft proposals, including managing approval process through CIM system. Facilitate necessary coordination with the Graduate College and Registrar’s Office.
Manage a coordinated effort with academic department schedulers, staff, and Registrar’s Office to support courses being available to populations of students across multiple degree and credential programs.
Maintain a system for managing content development proposals including a process for prioritizing a wide range of content development projects from discovery to planning to promotion and delivery.
Meets with tenure track and clinical faculty to discuss content development proposals and timelines including discussions of content relevance and demand.
Student Communication and Advising Support (15%)

In collaboration with leadership of the Student and Academic Success, develop communication plans and educational product promotion plans to build demand and meet student needs.
Lead planning around program, offering, course, and schedule revisions with a deep understanding of learner needs and program completion requirements.
Administrative (10%)

Work closely with program leadership and other staff to ensure operational success of administrative processes such as program and offering development, offering and live session scheduling, and other administrative functions.
Act as a liaison with other units and stakeholders such as Teaching and Learning, the Graduate College, other programs in the College and our external partners, such as Coursera, to ensure our offerings, goals, and needs are aligned and met.
Manage relationships with campus professionals in the area of contract management as it relates to our online content and educational offerings.
Duties and responsibilities of this role may require evening and weekend working hours.
Position Requirements and Qualifications:

 

Education:

Required: Bachelor’s degree.

Preferred: Master’s degree or equivalent experience

 

Experience:

Required: Minimum of five years of professional experience

Preferred: Experience in higher education or project management

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Required:

A successful candidate must have:

Deep level of intellectual curiosity.
Ability to influence and drive innovation among faculty.
Demonstrable ability to handle multiple projects and priorities effectively.
Excellent communication and writing skills.
Must demonstrate a service-oriented attitude working with faculty.
Working knowledge of computer related databases and office related software.
Experience working with a diverse population
Preferred:

Proven success in managing across multiple stakeholders including influencing decisions and building consensus.
Innovative mindset with an inclination towards and experience with iterating through success and failure.
Appreciation for and willingness to work within a complex organization
Working knowledge of the University of Illinois
SALARY:

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

 

APPOINTMENT STATUS:

This is a full-time (100%), benefits-eligible academic professional position appointed on a 12-month basis. The position is available as soon as possible after the closing date.
