Position description

The Department of Pharmacology in the School of Medicine (https://medschool.ucsd.edu/som/pharmacology) and the Section of Molecular Biology (https://biology.ucsd.edu/research/academic-sections/mb/index.html) at UC San Diego invite applications for a cross-campus hire for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor.

 

The focus of this search is in the broad area of Immunology and Cancer Immunology. Specific areas of interest are immunology and tumor immunity, cancer biology, cancer immunotherapy, genomics, and intracellular imaging and tool development, including computational methods, and basic and translational investigation of human diseases, with emphasis on cancer.

 

Successful candidates will be expected to contribute to the development of the large undergraduate majors enrolled in the Cell and Molecular Genetics Training Program in Biology, as well as in the graduate program on Pharmacological Sciences, including teaching lab and lecture courses at both the graduate and undergraduate levels.

 

In addition, candidates must also demonstrate a commitment to equity and inclusion in higher education and have a well-articulated plan of contributing to programs that increase access and success of underrepresented students and faculty in the sciences. A successful candidate will likely have already participated in, contributed to, or created such programs. A successful candidate will also have served as a role model in mentoring others, with a commitment to helping shape and expand the University’s diversity initiatives (http://diversity.ucsd.edu/).

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on the University of California pay scales. As a member of the Health Sciences Compensation Plan, the appointee should be aware that there are limitations on outside professional activities and clinical moonlighting is expressly prohibited. The successful candidates will have a strong record of research accomplishment, an innovative research plan, and demonstrated ability or potential for excellence in teaching at the interface of biology, immunology, and pharmacology.

Candidates must have received their PhD in Biology, Immunology, Pharmacology, or a closely related field before July 1, 2022.
