Job Description

The Department of Community Health invites applications for a full-time faculty position in community/public health at the rank of Lecturer. Positions are for 1-year initial contract with possibility of renewal and are included in the Collective Bargaining Agreement for full-time lecturers (Service Employees International Union). The search is open, but we are particularly interested in candidates with strong teaching expertise in any of the following areas: community health; global health; infectious diseases; epidemiology; gender, sexuality, and health; mental health; reproductive health; maternal and child health; adolescent health; and/or environment/climate health. We are especially interested in candidates who can teach one or more sections of the course “CH-1: Introduction to Community Health”.

 

The position entails teaching three courses or the equivalent in the fall, three courses or the equivalent in the spring, and performing service to the Department and the School of Arts and Sciences and/or the University. This is a 9-month position (September 1 through May 31) paid over 12 months.

Qualifications
Candidates should hold a doctoral degree or equivalent in community health, public health, global health, environmental health, or a related health field. University level teaching experience with undergraduates is required. A successful candidate will demonstrate a clear commitment to teaching excellence at the undergraduate level, working with a diverse student population, and fostering creative and independent thinking among students and mentees.
