The Opportunity

The Texas A&M University School of Medicine has partnered with AMN Healthcare to recruit a new Department Head of Primary Care & Rural Medicine (PCRM). The position will serve as the Chief Administrative Officer of the PCRM department, reporting to the Dean of the School of Medicine and will headquarter in College Station/Bryan, Texas.

 

As a key leader at both the University and School of Medicine, the PCRM department head will provide exemplary leadership to a well-established / highly regarded department that is committed to excellence in clinical care, education, and research. In addition to primary administrative responsibilities the new leader will also actively participate in sponsored research and/or the delivery of clinical care.

PCRM is committed to full-scope family medicine and community care. Through a keen focus on rural populations and innovative care delivery, PCRM is eliminating health disparities throughout Texas and bringing health care where is needed most. The faculty consists of academic clinicians whose areas of practice focus on behavioral health, family medicine, geriatrics, gynecology, internal medicine, obstetrics, palliative care, sports medicine, and who care for patients while also teaching medical students, residents, and fellows in training. PCRM utilizes Texas A&M Medicine clinical sites and a select group of clinical affiliates to provide excellent educational settings for our faculty, students, and residents for a community-based approach to preventive health care.

The Position

The PCRM department head will build on the department’s successes and develop and execute a growth strategy that leverages the talents of a diverse faculty and staff. The department head is responsible for the supervision of faculty and staff and for the oversight, planning, and administration of the department’s operations and budget. The department head conducts annual evaluations of faculty and makes recommendations on faculty appointments, reappointments, promotions, changes in faculty status, conferral of tenure, approval, and renewal of faculty leave, and dismissals.

 

Qualifications

·       Applicants must have an MD, MD/PhD, DO or equivalent degree and hold active certification in their clinical specialty.

·       Successful candidates should have prior experience in medical education, research, and/or healthcare leadership, particularly in a primary care field, and have demonstrated qualities and competencies commensurate leading a clinical department.

·       Applicants will be considered for a tenured or non-tenured track academic faculty appointment at the rank of Associate Professor/Professor or Clinical Associate Professor/Clinical Professor, depending on qualifications.
