Visiting Assistant Teaching Professor of Music History and Cultures-JOB#077028

SYRACUSE UNIVERSITY—The Department of Art and Music Histories in the College of Arts & Sciences seeks a Visiting Assistant Teaching Professor of Music History and Cultures for the 2023-2024 academic year, starting August 2023. A Ph.D. in musicology or related field by the appointment date is required. College-level teaching experience is preferred. A demonstrated commitment to teaching within a multicultural classroom is required. The candidate’s area of specialization is open. However, applicants will teach three courses per semester and should be prepared to offer “European Music Before 1800” (a required survey course for music majors enrolled in the College of Visual and Performing Arts), “Music and Gender,” and other courses to be determined based on curricular needs in such areas as popular music, music and media, and global music.
