Job Description:

 

The School of Nursing at Stony Brook University invites/seeks applications for a full-time faculty position. Candidates with experience in academic assessment and outcomes, faculty development, and curriculum management are invited to apply. Upper division teaching experience is required. Senior academic leadership experience and earned PhD or EdD preferred.

 

As a clinical faculty member, you are expected to contribute to the educational, research, clinical, and community service mission of the School of Nursing. The candidate will coordinate, oversee, and manage the school’s accreditation initiatives, including the assessment, evaluations, and outcomes of the programs within the School of Nursing. The incumbent would oversee Faculty Development activities by identifying areas of need and developing targeted programs. The individual will Chair the Committee on Evaluations and Outcomes and oversee analysis of outcomes data and direct action plan development and implementation for quality improvement, especially in the areas of faculty and curriculum development. The candidate will be expected to lead the initiative to audit, update, and enhance the School of Nursing curriculum across departments to ensure it is innovative and meets the School of Nursing mission, while engaging students in active learning. Workload offset will be calculated into the teaching requirement to achieve the expectations of this role.

 

All candidates should be prepared to pursue the Scholarship of Teaching in the development of critically reflective knowledge about teaching and learning. Such an approach emphasizes the development, testing, and dissemination of advances in both pedagogy and andragogy. The candidate will contribute to coursework in nursing education pedagogies and should demonstrate mastery in innovative pedagogical approaches and curriculum development. The School of Nursing clinical faculty are leaders in the implementation of innovative student-centered teaching and learning strategies for the development of strong clinical reasoning skills in graduates. Candidates who excel in the delivery of online and hybrid teaching formats are strongly encouraged to apply. All candidates should be prepared to mentor students and faculty as future nurse leaders, be committed to fostering diversity, equity and inclusion, and foster collaborative interdisciplinary learning experiences that expand student understanding of patient-centered care.

 

Candidates are also expected to contribute to the tripartite mission of a major research intensive university by contributing to the research and/or practice/service mission of the university. Candidates will be expected to compete for federal and foundation grants targeted at workforce development and innovative academic program development.

 

Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications and experience.

 

Qualifications

 

Required Qualifications:

 

• Earned Doctorate in Nursing

 

• Experience in Programmatic Assessment and Evaluation

 

• Evidence of Coursework in Nursing Education (MS or Doctoral)

 

• Evidence of Implementation of Innovative Pedagogy

 

• Experience in Curriculum and Faculty Development

 

• Valid NY State Professional Nurse License

 

• Minimum of Three Years Upper Division Teaching Experience

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

• Earned PhD or EdD Preferred

 

• Senior Academic Leadership Experience
