Pulmonary UML/UTL Faculty Search

 

The Division of Pulmonary Medicine in the Department of Pediatrics at Stanford University seeks an MD or MD/PhD faculty member to join the Professoriate at the Assistant, Associate, or Professor level in the University Medical Line (UML), University Tenure Line (UTL), or Non-Tenure Line (Research) (NTLR).

 

• The predominant criterion for appointment in the University Tenure Line is a major commitment to research and teaching.

 

• The major criteria for appointment for faculty in the University Medical Line shall be excellence in the overall mix of clinical care, clinical teaching, scholarly activity that advances clinical medicine, and institutional service appropriate to the programmatic need the individual is expected to fulfill.

 

• The major criterion for appointment for faculty in the Non-tenure Line (Research) is evidence of high-level performance as a researcher for whose special knowledge a programmatic need exists.

 

Faculty rank and line will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.

 

Candidates must have an MD or MD/PhD and must have a demonstrated record of accomplishment in investigator-initiated research. The candidate must be Board Certified in Pediatrics, and either Board Eligible or Board Certified in Pediatric Pulmonary Medicine and obtain a California Medical License by the time of hire.

 

The successful faculty candidate will be an excellent researcher in a discipline relevant to pulmonary biology (including but not limited to areas such as inflammation, vascular biology, control of breathing, immunology and developmental biology) committed teachers, outstanding clinicians (MD candidates only), and have the skills to establish an investigator-initiated research program focused primarily upon discoveries that can be applied to human health and disease. The successful candidates will demonstrate the capacity to direct a research program with a focus that is directly relevant to lung biology. All areas of research are of interest: basic, translational, clinical research, epidemiology/statistics, informatics, health services, or health policy.

The expected base pay range for this position is:

 

Assistant: $228,000 – $241,000

Associate: $263,000 – $275,000

Full: $317,000 – $338,000

 

This pay range reflects base pay, which is based on faculty rank and years in rank. It does not include all components of the School of Medicine’s faculty compensation program or pay from participation in departmental incentive compensation programs.
