Scripps College, Visiting Lecturer of Music, Spring 2025
Scripps College, a women’s liberal arts college with a strong interdisciplinary tradition, invites applications for the position of visiting lecturer in music to teach ‘MUS119: Women and Gender in Music,’ for Spring 2025, only. This course is a music major and minor elective open also to non-majors, exploring the role of gender in music as reflected by women and non-male composers, performers, writers on music, and patrons primarily in the European and American musical canon. As described in the catalog, “This class will also investigate how active participation in music making and performance by women shapes the ways in which gender is represented.” Teaching experience required and doctorate preferred (ABD considered). The salary for this position will range from $8,370 to $9,300 and will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.
