Director, Multicultural Affairs

Salisbury University, a member of the University System of Maryland, is a regionally accredited four-year comprehensive institution offering 61 distinct graduate and undergraduate programs. Located on the historic Eastern Shore, SU’s beautiful campus is some 30 miles from the Atlantic beaches and 2.5 hours from Baltimore and Washington, D.C.

Salisbury University is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Director, Multicultural Affairs in the Office of Diversity and Inclusion.

Primary Job Duties: The Director of Multicultural Affairs will be responsible for the development and implementation of proactive diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives and programs in support of Salisbury University’s strategic plan to create a learning and working environment where all have a true sense of belonging. Assist the university with efforts to create and sustain a culture that embraces and promotes diversity, inclusion, equity, and accessibility in their broadest meanings.

Minimum Qualifications: Five (5) to seven (7) years of related experience and a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Excellent judgment with the ability to manage highly sensitive and confidential information; demonstrated commitment to inclusion and success in working with diverse constituencies to support an inclusive campus environment; ability to be successful as an agent for change; strong and effective interpersonal skills; the ability to remain neutral, listen well and demonstrate sensitivity to and respect for individual needs; and the ability to establish and maintain professional and productive working relationships at all levels within the University and with University constituents.

Must be detail oriented and have excellent interpersonal, customer service, organization and planning, prioritization, problem solving, follow through, time management, and oral and written communication skills. Also, must be flexible and possess the ability to successfully manage multiple tasks in a high energy, fast paced setting and work well under pressure, work independently and in a team-oriented environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite is required.

This is a full-time exempt State position with a full benefits package. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
