The Media and Culture Department at Randolph College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track assistant professor of film and video to anchor a new film and video major.
The position currently carries a 3-3 teaching load. Date of employment is July 1, 2024; report date is in mid-August. The successful candidate will be expected to teach a range of introductory through advanced undergraduate courses in film and video production, both narrative and documentary. We seek a practitioner-teacher who is eager to mentor students as they explore their own creative visions and craft an authentic voice.
Located in the shadow of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Lynchburg, Virginia, Randolph College, founded in 1891 as Randolph-Macon Woman’s College, is a traditional small liberal arts college with a longstanding reputation for excellence in teaching and an appreciation for and commitment to diversity. Lynchburg is within close proximity to several prominent film festivals, such as the Virginia Film Festival, Richmond International Film Festival and Richmond French Film Festival.
Randolph College is notable for its innovative curriculum model, TAKE2. Students enroll in coursework over four 7-week sessions in an academic year, allowing students to sharpen their focus with immersive learning, gain life balance with a more flexible schedule, and most importantly, thrive within a supportive, student-centered environment. The successful applicant must be committed to excellent undergraduate teaching in the liberal arts tradition and hold an MFA in Film/Video or related terminal degree. Randolph is an EOE M/F/D/V employer.
