PRIMARY DUTY: At Northwest Missouri State University Wellness Services, we know that a well student is a successful student and we recognize with every interaction we can support each individual’s pursuit of wellness. The Mental Health Outreach Coordinator for Northwest Missouri State University will serve as a catalyst for growth in the areas of mental health, wellness and well-being with our campus community. This position will work closely with Wellness Services-Counseling and leadership to deliver high quality, evidence-based mental health, wellness and well-being programming. The coordinator position is focused on quality education, engagement and event management.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Plan, execute and evaluate evidence-based programming – focused on mental health, wellness and well-being – across the campus community for students, faculty and staff.
2. Schedule, recruit and present mental health crisis response/suicide prevention programming in conjunction with Wellness Services-Counseling.
3. Create and engage in an array of health promotion programs which promote awareness of core mental health concerns to all members of the NW community.
4. Work closely with Wellness Services-Counseling and leadership to effectively collaborate on programs and events to meet wellness and well-being strategic objectives.
5. Work with the Office of Diversity and Inclusion to communicate with underserved/marginalized populations to ensure messages surrounding mental health, wellness and well-being are being promoted and addressed.
6. Research best practices for mental health promotion and suicide prevention, keeping the Wellness Services team current on effective practices.
7. Attend scheduled meetings with Wellness Services-Counseling to acquire an understanding of student trends within the area of mental health.
8. Serve as the Wellness Services and NW liaison within the community surrounding mental health, wellness and well-being.
9. Maintain accurate and detailed records of all programming and outcomes related to mental health, wellness and well-being.
10. Advise Peer Wellness Coaching along with Wellness Services-Counseling GA
11. Coordinate marketing of all mental health, wellness and well-being initiatives through media, email, webpage, social media and other outlets
12. Coordinate the production of project-related educational materials.
