NYU SCHOOL OF PROFESSIONAL STUDIES

The Jonathan M. Tisch Center of Hospitality is seeking a candidate for a visiting professorship in the Spring of 2023.  The visiting clinical assistant professor will offer a 1.5 credit course in Travel and Tourism Technology, offer a public lecture and will collaborate with faculty and students on research projects. Candidates can be from any industrial or disciplinary field. We seek candidates who have experience or evidence of the potential for success in teaching a diverse population of students, including first generation students, and those from diverse linguistic, cultural, racial and ethnic groups around the world.

Ideally the candidate will be able to develop a course and research program designed around the following topics:

.Destination level (smart destination): ancillary services, OTAs, community development, accessibility.
.Travel intention and behavior: social return (how social media influence travel intention), risk perception (AI, robots and other technologies employed to reduce risk perception).
.Attractions (smart tourism): technologies to develop new attractions or update existing ones to enhance the quality of the experience and/or to develop new services.
.Evaluation and monitoring techniques and technologies for communities, governments, destinations, and businesses.

Prior teaching experience is desirable, as are candidates who can foster professional networks within the School of Professional Studies, the larger NYU community, and industry partners.  Faculty will be granted access to NYU library and institutional resources.

Professional Experience: The successful applicant will possess evidence of professional distinction, industry experience, and appropriate academic credentials. Graduate or professional degrees (MBA, JD, PhD, etc.) are expected; doctoral studies are appreciated but not required. For candidates who may not have formal teaching experience within a university setting, other types of activities associated with higher education will be considered, including teaching in a professional environment or evidence of excellent communication and analytical skills.

The Tisch Center has recently inaugurated the Hospitality Innovation Hub, a dynamic space for experiential learning, prototyping, and innovation that also hosts the Travel and Tourism Research Collaboratory.

Terms: This is a non-tenured, limited academic appointment for the Spring 2023 semester. In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $40,000 – $110,000.
