The NYU School of Professional Studies seeks a Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor of Project Management for the Division of Programs in Business, effective August 1, 2025. The rank of the position will be determined based on the candidate’s experience and qualifications.

The successful candidate will have the unique opportunity to support the Project Management graduate program at NYU SPS with high-quality and engaging teaching, curriculum development and improvement, and student mentoring and coaching. They will also have numerous opportunities to collaborate with other faculty and industry partners and engage with the broader NYU SPS academic community. It is essential that the candidate has a combination of academic and professional experience in project and program management and experience working with a diverse base of professionals and teaching a diverse population of students. The candidate will be expected to perform the following responsibilities:

  • Teach graduate-level courses in the M.S. Project Management Program,
  • Advance thought leadership in project management through applied industry research,
  • Contribute to course development and curriculum improvement for the M.S. Project Management program,
  • Build industry relationships and partnerships to enhance the program’s connection to the workplace,
  • Support the growth and development of the adjunct faculty base within the program, and
  • Contribute collaboratively to advancing the Division, School, and NYU mission and strategy.

All faculty members are expected to be active contributors to meeting the applied professional goals of the division. This involves being part of the continuing investments in scholarship, pedagogy, and corporate collaboration and is a vital aspect of the role.

Reporting to the Associate Dean of the Division of Programs in Business, the clinical faculty will play a key role in implementing the vision for expanding the program and increasing its profile and visibility locally, nationally, and internationally. Working closely with the Academic Director of Project Management Programs and department, the clinical faculty will also work directly with industry professionals and academics to advance the applied professional mission of the division. This full-time position is a nine-month appointment with a two-year renewable faculty contract.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have the ability and skills to develop and deliver impactful and engaging coursework and program materials in the project management domain, as demonstrated by:

  • An earned doctorate (Ph.D. preferred or ABD with graduation within six months of hire) in Project Management or related field,
  • Current and active professional certifications in project management (e.g., PMP or equivalent), and
  • At least three years of post-secondary teaching experience (graduate teaching preferred).

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $85,000 – $135,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, and market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.

About the M.S. Project Management Program
The Master of Science in Project Management is a STEM graduate degree, and a PMI GAC accredited program (https://www.pmi.org/global-accreditation-center/about-gac) offered as an online program or on-site at the New York City campus by the NYU SPS Division of Programs in Business, Department of Management & Technology.

The program’s project management curriculum is built on the latest international project and program management standards, enabling students to prepare for industry credentials that give them a competitive edge and advance opportunities in many industries, such as technology, healthcare, construction, engineering, entertainment, research, and more.

The Master of Science in Project Management offers a practical business perspective that project and program managers need in the 21st-century workplace. The program provides a comprehensive, rigorous educational experience focusing on industry-recognized best practices, principles, and methodologies in project management. The program’s curriculum stresses technical expertise, interpersonal skills, and strategic management concepts, complementing students’ existing business and technical expertise. Students will be prepared to manage public and private projects and programs in an increasingly complex managerial environment. Students will graduate with the tools, techniques, skills, and knowledge to be effective project, program, or organizational managers that will prepare them for advancement and career growth.

The NYU Division of Programs in Business provides applied, professional education for students interested in becoming leaders in a business’s functional areas: marketing, human resources, management and technology, and finance.
