Job Description

Job Summary: This is a full-time position within the Division of Physician Assistant Studies with primary responsibilities for coordinating and teaching the Program’s research methods course, coordinating students’ graduate projects, and facilitating data collection and assessment across the curriculum. PAS Program faculty are responsible for design and implementation of the educational curriculum, facilitation of all aspects of student learning, and student advisement for achievement of educational goals. Other responsibilities may include contribution to other didactic courses; Program, College, and University committee service; community service; and scholarship. The faculty member may also engage in clinical practice as a part of their assigned duties. Appointments will be made at a level commensurate with experience.

 

Job Duties: 100%

Contribute to student instruction as course director and instructor for the Program’s Research Methods and Graduate Project courses
Develop and implement all phases of program assessment and evaluation, including design, quantitative and qualitative data collection, and analysis and reporting
Organize, implement, and enforce accurate data collection policies and procedures to meet quality standards
Assess the adequacy of data collection and evaluation processes currently in place
Collect aggregate data involving admissions process and student preparedness for the clinical year
Collect and maintain all didactic course grades and evaluations (qualitative and quantitative)
Collect and maintain all clinical year course grades and associated grade components
Collect and maintain clinical year student and preceptor evaluations
Maintain predictive assessment performance data
Present findings visually, orally, and in writing, as appropriate, and contribute visual and written materials for reporting, publications, and proposals. Design and produce charts and graphs that describe and interpret findings, and efficiently and effectively reveal spatial and statistical relationships. Develop briefs, presentations, and reports that describe and interpret findings and provide actionable insights and recommendations
Perform appropriate blueprint mapping of programmatic curricular content with graduate outcome data
Collect and maintain NCCPA scores, Blueprint categories and aggregate data
Maintain global course grade repository
Demonstrate exceptional technological skills and research
Demonstrate excellent analytical and critical thinking skills with close attention to detail
Attend and participate in required in-person and virtual program and team meetings as needed
Contribute to other instructional, evaluative, or administrative activities of the PAS Program as directed by the Program Director
Provide academic advising support to students throughout the educational program
Serve as chair for the PAS Data Analysis Committee and support governance activities of the PAS Program, Department, College and University by serving on standing and ad hoc committees, task forces, and other University governance bodies
Participate in leadership within professional organizations appropriate with the faculty member’s clinical experience and educational preparation
Conduct scholarship and/or research in areas of the faculty member’s academic interests
Participate in ongoing program accreditation as assigned by the program director
Maintain professional licensure and/or certification in areas of professional expertise
Participate in professional development appropriate for the faculty’s areas of professional expertise
Clinical practice up to 20% of effort if applicable
Participate in other duties as assigned by the program director – (Essential)
Preferred Experience & Additional Skills:

Doctoral degree appropriate to research, clinical, or educational experience
Physician or NCCPA-certified physician assistant with eligibility for licensure in the state of South Carolina
Higher education teaching experience in related field
Experience in inter-professional practice or education
Leadership in professional organization
Master’s degree in a healthcare-, science-, or data analysis-related discipline
Proven scholarship or research experience with expert knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods
Demonstrated ability to analyze quantitative and qualitative data, interpret findings, discern implications, draw conclusions, and make recommendations
Must be able to demonstrate expert skills in framing analytic problems, identifying key stakeholders, acquiring and preparing data, selecting and applying analytic tools, making recommendations, and producing actionable results
Demonstrated proficiency in statistical analysis software, including ability to write complex syntax, and Microsoft office suite
Ability to translate technical data into messages and graphic representation meaningful to a broad audience
Possess strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills
Possess a strong commitment to achieve the missions of the PAS Division, the College of Health Professions, and the Medical University of South Carolina
Be willing to begin a doctorate program within the first year of employment if not previously obtained
