Executive Assistant to the VP DEI

Job Summary:

The Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion is seeking an Executive Assistant to provide high-level administrative support to Dr. Edward Antonio, Marist College’s new Vice President of DEI. The Executive Assistant will assist in advancing Marist’s strategies for diversity, equity, and inclusion by serving as a liaison on and off campus between the President’s Cabinet, faculty, staff, students, alumni, community members, and other stakeholders in order to advance cross-divisional initiatives. The Executive Assistant will review and prepare correspondence, presentations, projects, program assessments and draft written materials as needed. The individual will also manage the VP’s calendar, coordinate all travel arrangements, manage the department budget, and provide overall office support.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and minimum of three (3) years of related administrative experience supporting a senior executive or Vice President (preferred in higher education, nonprofit organization, or related organization).

 

Essential Functions:

·       Coordinate daily operations and communication between the Office of DEI and the President’s Office and Cabinet, VPs, faculty, staff, students, and community leaders and members.

·       Manage, draft, proofread and edit email and paper correspondence on behalf of the VP.

·       Organize projects based on deadlines and priorities in accordance with the vision of the Office of DEI and the President’s Office.

·       Perform program assessments on a regular cadence with the VP to evaluate their effectiveness.

·       Maintain department budget, prepare expense reports, and credit card reconciliations.

·       Coordinate travel arrangements, calendar events, and both on-site and virtual meetings.

·       Conduct preliminary research regarding College operations and informs the VP of findings accordingly.

·       Manage and train student interns to assist with administrative duties and office projects as needed.

·       Update databases and spreadsheets for recordkeeping and file organization.

·       Represent Marist in on-campus and off-campus groups or meetings.

·       Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Five (5) years of relevant administrative experience.

 

Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills. Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Experience working with diverse populations and a demonstrated commitment to social justice.

 

Ability to manage sensitive/confidential information with discretion. Ability to manage competing deadlines and multi-task.

Strong project-management and organizational skills.

 

Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite with the aptitude to learn new software and programs as needed.

Following a national search, Marist College is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Edward P. Antonio to the newly created position of Vice President of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), effective September 1. Dr. Antonio brings nearly twenty years of advanced DEI experience to Marist, having served most recently as Chief Diversity Officer at Concordia College in Minnesota. He also has 25 years of experience teaching undergraduate and graduate students at universities in Europe, Africa, and the United States. At Marist, Dr. Antonio will lead the inaugural office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, partnering with President Kevin Weinman, his colleagues on the President’s Cabinet, and faculty and staff across the campus to develop a strategic direction for DEI initiatives, build community, establish a system of accountability, and develop resources to support diversity initiatives.
