Job Description
The Department of Chemistry at Tennessee Technological University (TN Tech) invites applications for a full-time, three-year renewable, non-tenure-track position (9-month contract) in Analytical chemistry beginning August 2022. The department has just relocated to a newly built 160,000 ft2 Laboratory Science Commons (LSC), an interdisciplinary laboratory science facility for research and teaching. Extensive investment in new modern instrumentation for research and teaching has well positioned the university for expanded opportunities for laboratory instruction. Essential Functions: The candidate will teach in the undergraduate chemistry program including laboratory courses in the areas of general, analytical, and forensic chemistry. The candidate will be expected to participate in professional and community services, as well as demonstrate collegiality and cooperation within the Department, College, and University. Ability to teach online and other delivery methods is strongly desired.
Minimum Qualifications: A Ph.D. degree in chemistry from an accredited institution, with professional training in analytical chemistry is required. Ability to teach online and other alternate delivery methods. Prior experience teaching STEM general chemistry (lecture and lab) and quantitative analysis (lecture and lab) beyond that of a teaching assistant is required.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience managing a quantitative analysis laboratory. Experience teaching forensic chemistry (lecture and lab). Experience with oversight and routine maintenance on analytical instrumentation. Demonstrated experience developing lab experiments in electrochemistry and/or separations.
