Kennesaw State University (KSU) is now accepting applications for a twelve-month, administrative faculty position as a tenured Professor and appointment as Associate Dean for Student Success and Inclusive Engagement in the Norman J. Radow College of Humanities and Social Sciences beginning July 2023.
The Norman J. Radow College of Humanities and Social Sciences has experienced rapid growth in student population as well as research. The Associate Dean for Student Success and Inclusive Engagement serves as a member of the college’s leadership team. In collaboration with chairs/directors and the Dean, the Associate Dean advances the student success mission of the Radow College of Humanities and Social Sciences (RCHSS), overseeing its initiatives in the areas of recruitment, retention, student engagement and excellence, experiential learning, and graduation.
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
In collaboration with the College leadership team and departments/schools oversees the development, planning, and implementation of all Student Success Initiatives
Collaborates on mapping to the R2 Roadmap – Undergraduate Experience
Promotes undergraduate research
Oversees the operation of the college Advising Center
Promotes career and professional development initiatives for students
Responds to academic integrity and student issues (complaints and appeals)
Manages student scholarships
Oversees the Teaching Enhancement Program, the Dean’s Student Advisory Board, and the Lindy Radow Scholars Program and Scholars Liaison
Promotes the diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) strategic plan, outreach, and initiatives related to student success
Facilitates and reports on experiential learning as it relates to student engagement and success
Monitors and presents institutional reports and data on student success outcomes
Assists in donor outreach and philanthropic initiatives with a student success focus
Participates in professional activities on the local, state, and national levels
Actively participates in scholarly research and/or scholarship of teaching and learning
Collaborates on diversity planning, including identifying and creating new initiatives that build on the College’s commitment to a welcoming, inclusive environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors
Collaborates with the AD of Faculty in sharing ideas and opportunities to advance DEI in undergraduate and graduate student programs, faculty excellence, facilities, and research
Develops and promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives related to student engagement
Builds mentoring programs for historically underrepresented students
Collaborates on College level DEI development and fundraising activities
Serves on committees as assigned
Performs other duties as assigned by the Dean
Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines.
Required Qualifications Include
Ph.D. or terminal degree, or its foreign equivalent, and appropriate credentials to be a tenured Professor in one of the College’s academic schools or departments in the Norman J. Radow College of Humanities and Social Sciences at KSU
A demonstrated record of student success innovation and initiatives
Preferred Qualifications Include
Administrative and/or leadership experience in an academic setting (e.g., experience as a department chair, associate dean, and/or undergraduate or graduate program director or coordinator)
Experience teaching in a large and diverse college setting that includes general education
Experience fostering student success collaborations across departments, colleges, and/or institutions
Experience in implementing high impact practices and QEP.
Evidence of a track record of commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion as demonstrated by experience working with diverse populations and in promoting inclusive excellence in teaching and student learning and success
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
Evidence of developing and maintaining collaborative working relationships with student leaders, faculty, staff, and administrators across a university
