QUALIFICATIONS:

Earned doctorate by August 2023 in Literacy Education or similar area, ABD candidates considered
At least three years of successful literacy teaching with reading specialist certification preferred
Knowledge of theory and research in literacy education, teacher education, and social/critical theory, learning theory
Effective oral, written and collaborative skills
Demonstrated competence in or a potential for university teaching
Evidence of accomplishment or strong potential of success in research and scholarly writing
Eligible for Michigan teacher certification
Willingness to teach using multi-media modes of instruction and online courses
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Teach three undergraduate or graduate courses or their equivalent each semester in the Literacy Studies program. Possible courses include reading assessment, elementary or secondary reading methods, language & literacy interventions, language arts curriculum, and literacy coaching/professional development.
Supervise graduate student practicum and thesis/ projects
Advise undergraduate/graduate students
Carry out scholarly activities such as research, publication, grant writing, presentations
Provide service to the unit, university, profession and community
