The Program Director for Reading/Language Development will provide visionary leadership for the MA in Education: Reading/Language Arts. This leader will sustain innovative coursework that prepares prospective and practicing teachers to meet the literacy and language development needs of students in the Central Valley. The program director for the Masters in Reading program will have qualifications that support their oversight in the following areas: Professional Development, Curriculum Development & Maintenance, Developing School-University Partnerships, Assisting with Marketing & Recruiting, Program Administration, Assessment and Accreditation.


·      Earned terminal degree (either Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in education OR near completion of a doctoral program with specialization in reading, or curriculum with an emphasis in language and literacy development, cultural diversity in language and literacy, or a closely related field.

·       Expertise in reading and language pedagogy especially for K-12 students from low socio-economic, multi-cultural, multi-lingual settings.

·       Knowledge and understanding of socio-psycholinguistics.

·       Knowledge of linguistics.

·       Experience teaching reading/language arts in the K-12 public school system.

·       Record or promise of scholarly achievement.

·       Commitment to the Christian faith and the university’s mission of Christ-centered teaching and learning, including involvement in a local church.

COMPENSATION: Dependent on qualifications and experience and paid out over 12 months. Full-time benefits include insurance (medical, vision, dental, LTD) and retirement (TIAA).
