Location: Remote

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Hiring/Budgeted Salary or Hourly Range: The budgeted salary range that the university reasonably expects to pay for this position is 55K

Full Salary Range: The full salary range for the position is $54 – 60K

We are seeking Development Manager to work remotely on a full-time 37.5-hour per week basis. This position may also work in our Santa Barbara or Washington DC offices if desired.

 

Summary

The Development Manager, Donor Experience, is an integral member of the Office of Development & Community Relations at the University. The ideal candidate for this position is a professional who aims to grow in their fundraising career and nonprofit leadership, aspires to engage their skills in an academic setting, and embraces Fielding’s values of Academic Excellence, Community, Diversity, Learner-centered Education, Social Justice, and Transformational Learning.

 

Under the direction of the Director of Development and Community Relations, this position manages the Annual Fund, supports donor communications, plans, and manages donor centered-events, community events, supervises donor database management, and implements related projects. The goal of the person in this position is to ensure the highest ethical and fundraising standards in donor solicitations, maintain excellent donor stewardship practices, and grow the Annual Fund. The Development Manager of Donor Experience will play a significant role in planning and executing fundraising and community relations activities for Fielding’s 50th Anniversary in 2024. Together with colleagues and contractors, this position researches and prepares a variety of written materials for donors, including but not limited to donor engagement communications, scholarship reports, appeals, and more. The ideal candidate for this position is someone who loves working with people, handles work well under pressure and challenging situations, loves all aspects of event planning, and enjoys working in a highly professional and collaborative environment.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in humanities, business, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Advanced degree and relevant certifications preferred.

•   Three or more years’ professional experience in fundraising.

•   Track record of successful fundraising, development, or advancement within the nonprofit or higher education sector.

•   Demonstrated success in donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.

•   Experience in successfully planning and executing fundraising events.

•   Experience ensuring diversity, equity, and inclusion in fundraising and events.

•   Experience in an academic or nonprofit setting preferred.
