Along the way, the University has awarded over 45,000 degrees since 1951, developing and supporting a reputation for educational excellence both regionally and nationally.

Job Description:
The Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at Fairfield University invites applications for a full-time tenure-track assistant professor position in the area of organic chemistry or chemical biology beginning September 1, 2024, pending final budget approval. Applicants with research interests within synthetic organic chemistry, chemical biology, biochemistry, or polymer science are encouraged to apply.   The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to teaching Organic Chemistry I and II, Biochemistry I and associated laboratories.  Additional teaching opportunities include courses for science and non-science majors, courses within the University’s Honors program, and courses within the signature elements of the College’s Magis Core curriculum. The teaching load is three undergraduate courses each semester; research and university service are required for promotion and tenure.

Applicants are expected to have completed a Ph.D. in chemistry, biochemistry, chemical biology or an allied field. Applicants must have a strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching and the potential for developing an active research program in their area of specialization that involves undergraduates.  Previous teaching and postdoctoral experience is preferred.  Additionally, a commitment to pedagogical innovation and demonstrated excellence in using technology in the classroom is required.
