The candidate, which will vary by rank, should be able to effectively communicate with hospitality industry leaders and have a strong record of (or potential for) teaching courses at the undergraduate, graduate, and executive levels. The candidate must have, or be willing to develop, expert knowledge in the hospitality industry and work in concert with the Pillsbury Institute of Hospitality Entrepreneurship.
Of particular interest is a faculty member who can build a connection to and passion for the hospitality industry, broadly defined, and who can perform research and teach at a quality level that is consistent with the College and School’s pre-eminent status. The ideal candidate can effectively interact with students, faculty and industry leaders and entrepreneurs and enrich the intellectual capital of the school through their research and teaching activities in the area of entrepreneurship and innovation for hospitality, broadly defined. Research should have the potential to influence and interest both academics and practitioners. The successful candidate is expected to serve as a thought leader in the S.C. Johnson College of Business’s Management & Organizations area group and in the Nolan School, and possibly serve as the Academic Director of the Pillsbury Institute for Hospitality Entrepreneurship.
It is expected that our faculty teach across multiple schools within the College of Business.
