Assistant Professor of Italian Studies Tenure Track

The Department of World Languages, Literatures, and Cultures at the College of the Holy Cross invites applications for a full-time tenure-track appointment to begin in August 2023. We seek a specialist in Italian language, literature, and culture to teach at all levels of the Italian Studies curriculum. Preference will be given to candidates involved in interdisciplinary research in one or more of the following areas: Italian Cultural Studies (with a focus on race, identity, and immigration), Ethnic Studies, and Diaspora Studies. Native or near-native fluency in Italian and English is required. The successful candidate will be a dynamic teacher of undergraduate Italian courses, for students with a range of disciplinary interests, who is also prepared to teach interdisciplinary courses in English.

Candidates must demonstrate commitment to, and excellence in, undergraduate teaching at the introductory and advanced levels as well as scholarly achievement. Ph.D. required at time of appointment.

This position carries a 3-2 teaching load with a full-salary one-semester research leave prior to tenure review, and generous sabbatical and fellowship leaves for tenured faculty. Tenure-track faculty are eligible for travel support and reimbursement of relocation costs within the College’s published policies.
