PRIMARY PURPOSE/GENERAL DESCRIPTION

This position reports to the Associate Director of the Claremont Evaluation Center. Provides general support for evaluation contracts for Drs. Michelle Sloper and Tiffany Berry in the Claremont Evaluation Center.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Project Management: Lead and monitor evaluation activities across multiple projects under the direction of Drs. Tiffany Berry and Michelle Sloper to support the delivery of high quality, technically sound and useful evaluations for our clients/partners. Utilize good self-editing and time management skills, as the job requires independently keeping track of multiple project timelines and a variety of evaluation activities for each project. Assist with the development and maintenance of a project management database for use across evaluation projects.
• Evaluation Proposal Development & Planning: Develop evaluation plans/scopes of work (and respond to RFPs) that translate evaluation designs into practice. Contribute to the development of logic models / theories of change, as necessary per the evaluation scope. Conduct relevant literature reviews to ensure evaluation designs, tools, and approaches are aligned with best practice in the field.
• Execute Evaluation Data Collection: Determine meaningful measurement strategies. Design data collection methods and tools. Collect, clean, and analyze qualitative and quantitative data using a range of methods.
• Presenting Findings & Promoting Evaluation Use: Develop reports and other tools to communicate evaluation findings and facilitate learning and use. Present evaluation findings to various relevant audiences when appropriate to enhance knowledge, build capacity, and promote professional development.
• Relationship Building & Client Management: In collaboration with Drs. Berry and Sloper, co-lead and document learning check-in calls with partners. When needed, either lead or support facilitation of gatherings to engage partners in the evaluation process. Communicate in a timely and professional manner with other collaborative partners.
• YDEVAL Lab Development: Complete administrative tasks when requested by Drs. Berry and Sloper, including (but not limited to) coordinating travel for meetings or site visits, scheduling meetings, creating templates, etc. Support with the development of the YDEval website. Support graduate student professional development efforts, including and mentoring our graduate students to conduct high-quality work. Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested with an appropriate sense of humor, professional and positive attitude, and team spirit.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES: Individual must possess knowledge, skills and ability to be able to successfully perform the essential functions of the position, or be able to explain or demonstrate how the essential functions will be performed, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.

• Familiarity with evaluation methodology, including instrument development required.
• Have proficiency in basic data management to include quality control and cleaning. Quantitative and qualitative data analysis; proficiency in statistical software (e.g., SPSS or R) required.
• Have proficiency in platforms such as Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom, and Qualtrics.
• Ability to communicate evaluation findings (e.g., written report, facilitated presentation) in an engaging, accessible, visually appealing, and utilization-focused manner.
• Be a critical thinker, well-organized, and detail-oriented; have proficient or expert communication (oral and written skills); demonstrated ability to be proactive and take initiatives; work both independently and in teams; prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
• Have good judgement, empathy, adaptability, and level-headed attitude; demonstrate proficient or expert interpersonal skills when interfacing with partners; be assertive and persuasive when necessary while maintaining positive and productive relationships.
• Solve problems and act effectively and efficiently under pressure.
• Follow through with all projects and assignments, follow timelines and meet scheduled deadlines.
• Eagerness to learn and contribute to the overall success of the organization.
• Drive and travel occasionally within Southern California and throughout the United States.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:

Have a master’s degree with an emphasis on evaluation or in a related field (i.e., psychology, social work, public policy).

EXPERIENCE: a minimum of one year’s experience with evaluation and/or research projects through all phases: planning, implementation, analysis, reporting, and utilization for improvement.

LICENSES / CERTIFICATES: Must possess a valid California Driver’s License and meet CGU’s authorized driver’s requirements.

OTHER PREFERENCES: Experience with statistical software, Microsoft Office suite, Qualtrics, and Zoom software is required.

UNIFORM REQUIREMENT: Business/office attire required or may wear CGU logo shirts for special events.

OTHER:

HOURS: 37.5 hours per week (typically 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday – Friday). Hours and days will vary due to scheduling of events on evenings or weekends and/or to meet the needs of the University, School, or department.

CLASSIFICATION AND STATUS: This is a full-time (non-exempt level) position. Benefits-eligible This is an evaluation-project funded position and subject to change based on funding requirements.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: None.

REPORTS TO: Associate Director of the Claremont Evaluation Center, Dr. Tiffany Berry

OTHER: May be expected to do some lifting and extensive walking for events (e.g., set-up/break-down of events; campus tours). Some tasks may be performed off-campus.
