California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB) is located in San Bernardino in the Inland Empire, 60 miles east of Los Angeles and operates a satellite campus in Palm Desert located in Coachella Valley. CSUSB serves approximately 20,000 students, of which 81% are first-generation college students and graduates about 5,000 students annually. JOB SUMMARY

The IDS Department seeks a full-time assistant professor to join a growing and dynamic faculty team. CSUSB’s cutting edge Cybersecurity program prepares students to solve the cybersecurity issues and concerns faced today in many corporate and government environments. This program’s foundation consists of skills required to succeed with a combination of technical skills, policy, teamwork, ethics, and professionalism. In 2022, the Cyber program renewed the NSA designation of Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense (CAE-CD). Since receiving the CAE-CD designation, the program has secured a portfolio of $38m in grants and scholarships focused on cyber workforce.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

The position of assistant professor, tenure-track would begin Fall 2023. Qualifications for this position include: (1) An earned doctorate in Cybersecurity or, a closely-related discipline (ABD may be considered, Ph.D. required by Aug 2023), (2) Demonstrated ability or potential for excellence in teaching, research, and service to the university and to the profession, (3) Strong commitment to quality of student learning and program excellence, (4) Ability to obtain and conduct federally funded research that requires a top secret security clearance is preferred.

Candidates must have knowledge, skill, and interest in teaching both undergraduate and graduate courses in Cybersecurity at both the Palm Desert and San Bernardino campuses. The candidate will also serve as a liaison to the local community for cybersecurity initiatives. Candidates with the teaching (applied/hands-on) and research experiences in the following areas are preferred:

– Cybersecurity Management                      – Applied cybersecurity

– Ethical hacking                                         – SCADA/IOT

– Forensics                                                  – Incident Response

– Industry recognized certifications such as Security+, CISSP, etc. are a plus.

The mission of the Department of Information Decision Sciences is to provide students with the knowledge and ability to design, develop, implement and use information systems that allow organizations to effectively solve problems and use data for decision making. The department offers courses in cybersecurity, business analytics, supply chain managements, and management information systems at both the graduate and undergraduate levels.
