Description
Baylor University seeks to fill the following position in the Robbins College of Health and Human Sciences: Physician Assistant Program Director for the new hybrid PA program.  The inaugural Program Director will serve as a visionary, academic and operational leader by providing administrative oversight for all aspects of the program’s development and implementation.  The Program Director will serve as a mentor to faculty in the areas of teaching, research, and service.  This is a full-time, 12-month clinical track faculty appointment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop and refine a collaborative mission and related goals for the Program
Direct all operations and strategic planning for the PA program
Demonstrate effective leadership and management of the program
Establish, refine, and oversee the implementation of program policies and procedures consistent with ARC-PA accreditation standards including those necessary for ongoing programmatic assessment
Secure accreditation and maintain compliance with Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA)
Direct faculty and staff recruitment and recommend qualified individuals for appointment
Supervise the Medical Director, Principal Faculty, Instructional Faculty and Staff supporting the Program
Develop for Robbins College approval and manage the budget for the new Baylor University entry-level hybrid PA program
Oversee the development, on-going refinements, implementation, and assessment of the Program’s curriculum
Collaborate with appropriate university support services regarding admissions policies and marketing of the PA program
Direct the admissions process for the PA program
Provide oversight for the overall assessment of student performance
Oversee the availability of remediation as needed to PA students
Ensure that each student has successfully met all requirements for graduation, based upon the recommendation of the faculty
Engage in teaching, scholarship and service that promotes the University’s distinctive mission and positions the Program as a thought leader in PA education
Serve with Robbins College faculty on Simulation Laboratory working group.
Collaborate with the U.S. Army Medical Center of Excellence to bolster the proud, longstanding Army-Baylor partnership
Participate in and lead professional activities at local, state, and national levels
Once the program has launched, oversee funded research agendas of program faculty
RANK AND SALARY: Commensurate with experience and qualifications.

The budgeted salary range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is

$170,000.00 – $185,000.00

This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certification, analysis of internal equity, and other business and organizational needs.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful candidate will be a physician assistant with current or emeritus NCCPA certification, a minimum of five years of PA program teaching, research, and relevant clinical experience. Recent experience as a PA program director or assistant program director is highly preferred. Previous experience in a leadership role with involvement in academic strategic planning, curriculum development (including asynchronous instruction), faculty recruitment, student recruitment and retention, program assessment, accreditation processes, and budget and resource management is strongly desired.  Experience managing faculty at distant locations and the ability to effectively manage teams through significant change is also highly desired. Required: Terminal research doctoral degree and licensed (or the ability to become licensed) in Texas. Preferred: Live in Waco, or within driving distance of Baylor/Waco campus, or willing to relocate.
