The Science and Mathematics faculty in the College of Integrative Sciences and Arts on the Polytechnic Campus at Arizona State University invites applications for a Lecturer in the 2022-2023 academic year. The successful candidate will provide instruction in the Applied Biological Sciences (Wildlife Ecology and/or Preveterinary Medicine) degree program. Courses will be on subject matter such as: General Biology, Animal Physiology, Ecology and Adaptations of Vertebrates, Life History of Mammals, and Habitat Management for Small Wildlife.  Course assignments are at the graduate/undergraduate levels, and may occur in a variety of modalities (online, on-ground, hybrid), on the Polytechnic campus. Course load, determined by the faculty head, typically consists of 12 credit hours per semester, and may be composed of a combination of lectures, labs and/or recitations.  The successful candidate will also be expected to participate in service to the institution and profession as appropriate. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible, non-tenure eligible position renewable on an academic year basis contingent upon satisfactory performance, availability of resources, and the needs of the university. Salary is competitive commensurate with experience. Candidate must reside in Arizona, or be willing to relocate.

 

The Science and Mathematics faculty support students in nine undergraduate programs and one graduate program in the sciences and mathematics fields. We also offer three minors and one certificate. We have faculty conducting research in biology, chemistry, physics, and applied mathematics.

Required Qualifications:

Terminal degree in Biology, Wildlife Ecology, Ecology or related fields at time of appointment
Commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion
Desired Qualifications:

Two (2) or more years teaching experience at the undergraduate level in lectures and labs
Experience teaching in digital environments such as Canvas (asynchronously and/or synchronously)
Experience mentoring students on internships, research, honors theses, or non-traditional projects
Experience teaching online courses
Demonstrated experience in the design of lecture curriculum using innovative teaching techniques and modes of delivery
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment including academic service
Experience in working with federal and state agencies as well as private organizations
