Building Automation Systems Technician
The Claremont Colleges Services (TCCS) is the central coordinating and support organization for a highly regarded cluster of seven independent colleges known as The Claremont Colleges. TCCS, with about 300 staff members, provides exceptional shared services to 9,000 students, and almost 3,600 faculty and staff. TCCS staff work in both student-facing services as well as administrative and operational services. Our numerous departments are located throughout The Claremont Colleges campus in the beautiful city of Claremont, California.
ABOUT THE POSITION:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The following are the fundamental duties and responsibilities of this position which the incumbent must be able to perform to fulfill the purpose and requirements of this position.
• Develop and maintain software solutions and user interface for the Building Automation System (BAS).
• Coordinate with the facilities departments at each member institution of The Claremont Colleges (TCC) consortium relative to BAS services, support and training.
• Work closely with technical trades, engineers, and information technology personnel to design, implement, retrofit, reverse engineer/convert/upgrade, and maintain the BAS/EIS.
• Develop solutions for third-party integration with the campus BAS.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

• Recruit, select, train, evaluate, and develop staff.
• Clearly communicate job requirements and expectations.
• Coordinate training and resources to support the performance of work duties. Provide ongoing coaching that is balanced, helpful, timely, and contributes to a work environment of open communication, ownership of duties, and trust.
• Address performance issues early, create appropriate documentation, and ensure follow through. Collaborate with Human Resources as needed.
• Complete annual written performance reviews.
QUALIFICATIONS
Unless otherwise stated, the following qualifications are required to perform the essential functions of this position, or the individual must demonstrate how the essential functions will be performed (with or without reasonable accommodation) using other qualifications not listed below.
Education/Training: At least three (3) years of coursework in computer science, computer information systems, or engineering, plus successful completion of a training program for major building automation systems manufacturer (preferably Andover Continuum Systems, Schneider EcoStruxure). Preference for a bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or engineering technology, or a closely related field.
Experience: At least five (5) years of experience working in the building automation system industry as an engineer/technician or similar role. At least two (2) years of previous management experience. Preference for experience:
• Working with Andover Systems Continuum or Schneider EcoStruxure systems, and/or with a successful integrations of BACNet and ModBus devices with relative BAS software.
• Scripting and/or programming in object oriented languages or specifically Schneider PE language
• Graphical User Interface creation (GUI) in HTML/CSS/JavaScript and Schneider EcoStruxure (TGML)
Competencies:
• Intermediate knowledge of networking principles.
• Intermediate knowledge of graphical editing software.
• Basic knowledge of electro-mechanical theory.
• Basic knowledge of HVAC sequence of operation.
• Intermediate knowledge of HTML and JavaScript code.
• Intermediate communication skills in English, verbally and in writing with proper grammar, spelling, and business etiquette. Advanced skill in communicating technical concepts to non-technical individuals with tact, courtesy, and respect for differing competency levels.
• Proven self-starter with strong analytical, problem-solving, and research skills.
• Demonstrate openness and responsiveness to new ideas and change.
• Proactive follow-through and attention to detail.
• Quickly learn new information, tasks, and systems as needed. Ability and willingness to continually learn and improve skills, knowledge, and abilities.
• Strong customer service skills and an ability to work effectively with diverse individuals.
• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Ability to learn other software and technologies as needed.
• Ability to present a neat and professional appearance and present self in a manner that reflects positively on the organization.
Work Schedule: The regular hours for this onsite full-time position are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Must be able and willing to work on-call and overtime hours as needed. May be required to work holiday, weekend, and/or evening hours. Regular hours may vary due to needs of the organization or business unit.
COMPENSATION
Pay: The monthly salary for this position is competitive and commensurate with the duties, responsibilities, and qualifications required for the position, between $5,833.33 – $6,666.67 per month.
