Job Description

The University of Illinois Urbana Champaign (http://illinois.edu/) and the Department of Kinesiology and Community Health (https://ahs.illinois.edu/kch-home), located in the College of Applied Heath Sciences, are searching for an outstanding candidate with a background in exercise physiology for a nine-month, open rank tenure-track appointment. The successful candidate will possess an outstanding record in exercise physiology and use state-of-the-art technologies to reveal novel insights regarding skeletal muscle responses to exercise, including but not limited to tissue cross-talk (e.g., gut microbiome, extracellular vesicles), hypertrophy, recovery after disuse, healthy aging, and prevention of chronic diseases. The successful candidate is expected to also contribute to both the teaching and service missions in the Department.

The successful candidate must have a doctoral degree in kinesiology, exercise science, physiology, or a related field by August 16, 2024. Postdoctoral training and a strong record of academic scholarship that meets qualifications for the rank of Assistant Professor is required. Candidates applying for Associate or Full Professor must demonstrate an excellence in scholarly activity including a strong publication record and success in receiving extramural funding. Preference will be given to individuals who demonstrate excellence in embracing diverse individual identities, foster a culture of inclusion, and promote equity in curricula, teaching, standards, behaviors, policies and practices. The Department of Kinesiology & Community Health (KCH, http://kch.illinois.edu): The mission of the Department is to advance and disseminate knowledge related to health, rehabilitation, and human movement using an interdisciplinary approach. Through the integration of high-quality research, instruction, and outreach programs, faculty scholars within KCH are leading initiatives that address pressing concerns of our diverse society such as prevention and management of chronic disease as well as maintenance of health and well-being across the lifespan.
