Job Overview
The College of Cooperative Education and Professional Studies is expanding its team to include an effective leader with proven success and expertise in inclusive excellence. This hire represents an area of emphasis within the CCPS expanded mission and is reflective of the values of the College and UC at large. The Assistant Dean will work collaboratively within the college and across the institution to promote inclusion across stakeholders and functions.

The Assistant Dean will be a key member of the CCPS leadership team. CCPS is seeking a team member with strong organizational, planning, and communication skills to assist in the development and delivery of strategic efforts to enhance inclusion. The position will work closely with the Office of Equity & Inclusion and other university partners to align institutional initiatives with college initiatives to promote innovative approaches to institutional diversity, equity, and inclusion across campus.

This position is a full-time, 12-month administrative role and reports to the Dean. CCPS participates in the University’s alternative work program; hybrid work schedule is negotiable.

Essential Functions

  • Develop, implement, assess, and update a strategic, comprehensive DEI Plan for the College with particular emphasis on expanding access of programs and promoting inclusive practices across functions and stakeholders including but not limited to students, employer and community partners, faculty, and staff.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with college-level and university-level DEI professionals and leaders.
  • Develop policies and implement actions to improve existing processes/practices to achieve strategic DEI Plan.
  • Research, prepare and conduct training programs aimed at recognizing, accommodating, and appreciating individual differences, and apply skills in meeting operational and community needs.
  • Guide programs/departments on increasing diversity in employer partners.
  • Identify external trends and best practices to develop DEI across CCPS programs, courses, and employer partnerships.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in inclusive practices and community engagement including developing and analyzing departmental climate surveys.
  • Develop and implement professional development programming for faculty and staff around DEI.
  • Develop curricular materials and support around topics related to DEI for both students and employers.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources and search committee leaders in assessing potential barriers and developing strategies to recruit and retain a diverse workforce.
  • Develop and monitor metrics/key performance indicators measuring the progress of the College’s DEI efforts.
  • Maintain DEI knowledge of current and emergent developments/trends, assess impact and recommend modifications in current and future strategies.

Required Education
Bachelor’s Degree or Terminal Degree.

Required Experience

  • Seven (7) years of relevant work experience.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of higher education administrative experience.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion and a proven record of achieving diversity goals.
  • Some positions may require a record of scholarship and professional achievement that would meet the criteria for appointment as a full professor with tenure.

Additional Qualifications Considered

  • Demonstrated experience collaborating with faculty and staff across colleges, departments, and/or disciplines.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

  • Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.

Compensation and Benefits
