Description:
The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures at Johns Hopkins University seeks to appoint a senior faculty member (Associate or Full) in Italian Studies and invites applications from scholars of Italian literature working in any period from the Middle Ages through the nineteenth century. Applications from scholars who work in one or more of the following areas are particularly encouraged to apply: Gender Studies; Environmental Humanities; intersections between science and literature.
The Italian section of the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures offers an undergraduate major and minor, a PhD program, and opportunities for students to be involved in research and study abroad. The program also runs a rich series of talks, film screenings, and panel discussions with authors, directors, artists, performers, and other professionals.
The Department is committed to conducting a globally broad and inclusive search for candidates who, through their research, teaching, and service, will contribute to the excellence of our academic community. The successful candidate will supervise doctoral research, offer courses in Italian and in English at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and serve on the editorial board of MLN (Modern Language Notes). The appointment will begin on July 1, 2024.
