Job Description:
The Science, Engineering and Architecture department is seeking a technologically diverse individual with a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, as well as student learning and success who can teach a variety of courses within the department. Duties include teaching the lecture and laboratory sections of Earth Science, Physical Geology, Historical Geology and introductory Physics courses; maintaining the College’s extensive rock and mineral collection and the rock-lab equipment; assisting the college in extending our geology offerings into the liberal arts areas; preparing demonstrations, set-up, take-down of laboratory equipment, keeping inventory and monitor compliance with college environmental policies, ordering equipment and supplies.

This position requires a wide range of professional responsibilities and activities, including participation in curriculum and course development, departmental planning, attendance at department and college meetings, participation on department and Governance committees, student advising and other duties as assigned.

Instructors are expected to participate in College and Departmental assessment initiatives.

Teaching assignments may be on the Middletown or Newburgh campus or both.

Requirements:
Education Required: Master’s Degree in Geology, Geo-Physics or closely related field
Experience Required: Teaching experience at the college level

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Worker Characteristics:

  • Recent Geology and/or Physics teaching experience at the college level.
  • Experience with D2L Brightspace or other comparable learning platform
  • Experience in online teaching in both asynchronous and synchronous formats with demonstrated evidence of student engagement
  • Research/Industrial experience or Ph.D.
  • Teaching at the community college level
  • Bilingual

Additional Information:

Salary: $57,431 per the faculty contract. This is a 10 month Faculty position
